About This Campaign

As a teenager and during the earlier stages of my career in the fashion industry, I was blessed to have mentors who supported and educated me along the way. I was taught invaluable lessons in etiquette, professionalism and integrity that have made me the person that I am today. Petals-N-Belles is an organization that is invested in empowering young girls who don’t necessarily have the support that I had. We decided to launch this iCare Campaign to help the girls get one step closer towards a brighter future. Through the creative after-school programs, workshops and academic coaching that Petals-N-Belles provide, we believe that we are setting our girls up for success and making a direct impact in their lives. My grandmother, Ms. Edith Lamptey, always reminded me that there is a blessing in giving. She passed away on November 10th. Therefore, I am dedicating this I Care campaign to her; in honor of her generous spirit. I hope that I can make a difference in someone else’s life. “We make a living by what we get. It is very important for me to pay it forward in all aspects of my life. I am where I am today because of my mentor, who gave me my first job in fashion, who I am now fortunate enough to call my business partner. Your mentor will see something in you that you cannot see. They will pushed you and teach you invaluable lessons. Once I understood the importance of a mentor, I wanted to become one, which is why I founded “The Brooklyn Intern,” a program to help youth get their first feet in the doors of the fashion industry. In my career, everything came full circle, so I always try and pay it forward by creating opportunities for emerging talent and eager young professionals.”
