Renae Bluitt HERstory: Womens History Month Spotlight

With over a decade in the industry, and a history of successfully executed PR and event programs for household brands such as Axe Body Spray, ESSENCE Magazine, Pantene, Cover Girl, McDonald’s, Kraft Foods, and Coca-Cola, Renae Bluitt is a woman who’s story is nothing short of inspiring.

Working for several years in the corporate and agency settings, Renae always knew her professional story wouldn’t end there. After a continuous search for the position and opportunity that would be the perfect fit, Renae realized that the best opportunities are the ones we create for ourselves. Combining a successful PR career with her love of pop culture and desire to meet the needs of the multicultural community, Renae launched Crush Media in December 2007. With a focus on beauty, she is more committed than ever to erasing the impersonal divide that often exists between a brand and its consumers.

Inspired by the many successful women she’s met on her journey, Renae later launched In Her Shoes blog in 2009. As the one stop blog for women committed to being the captain of their own ship, In Her Shoes shines light on ladies leaving their mark on the world. So when she’s not busy shaping brands, she’s sharing – introducing In Her Shoes readers to other fly female entrepreneurs like herself.

Despite the often times embarrassing images of women of color depicted in the media, Renae believes there are plenty of us who are committed to celebrating and uplifting one another.

“Women are facing their fears, finding their purpose and following their dreams. What’s not to love about that? The ladies in my life are an unwavering power source. they inspire me to be the higher me!”

Throughout her career, Renae’s professionalism and expertise has attracted an impressive array of employers including Burrell Communications, Lifetime Television and most recently, Edelman Multicultural Marketing. Consistently leveraging the inseparable worlds of marketing and pop culture, with a keen understanding of the power of brand devotion. Renae’s innovative approach has kept her in high demand—not just within the multicultural segment, but in the broader market as well.

When asked about the woman who has inspired her most, Renae says, “My mother is my shero. As a relatively new U.S. resident, she overcame many obstacles, completed her undergraduate and graduate studies and launched a successful career while meeting the demands of being a young parent. She’s loving, strong, beautiful and resilient!”.
